The Dentrix team is pleased to announce the release of Dentrix G7. Reflecting feedback from customers nationwide, this new version has completed a thorough Beta test, and is ready now for all Dentrix offices. Upon installing G7.0, users will benefit in many ways:
To introduce G7, we asked practices who participated in Beta testing about their favorite features. Here is what they had to say, including comments about G6.5 and G6.6 features.
This new feature allows tracking of an unlimited number of medical descriptors, now divided into two categories: Medical Conditions and Allergies. These user-defined descriptors integrate seamlessly with Dentrix questionnaires.
Joanne Cameron, Office Manager at Richard J. Neal, Jr., DMD, Wolfeboro Falls, NH, says, “The new health history module has opened a well-needed dialogue in our office about health histories and questionnaires. Medical conditions and allergies can be easily added or discontinued, and as changes are made, the date is inserted for well-needed documentation. The new health history also works with [our] existing questionnaire and updates it automatically when a medical condition is changed.”
In an effort to assist Dentrix practices in their goals for security best practices, G7 introduces two choices for creating complex passwords. In addition, new options allow users to reset their own passwords based on security questions, and administrators to require all users to reset passwords at predetermined intervals.
“Computer security is a huge concern today,” notes Joanne Cameron. “This password update adds another protective layer to our system, improving our overall security protocol.”
Dentrix Pay was introduced in G6.6 as the new standard for electronic payments. By integrating with the Ledger and offering a way to keep credit card information on file, Dentrix Pay is saving practices precious time. With G7, it is now possible to check off payment agreements in the Agreement Manager and then, with a single click, charge the saved cards on file.
“We love being able to save patient credit card information. It saves time and makes our job easier when we don’t have to re-enter the card information every time it is needed,” comments Melanie Parado, Office Manager at Bazos Dental in Torrance, CA.
Smart Image introduces new automation features that enhance imaging activities across the practice. When acquiring images, users can select the procedure and CDT code to automatically open the imaging software and arm the imaging device. As images are completed, Dentrix automatically saves the information to the Ledger and updates the patient record.
Smart Image also lets you select and view a patient’s available images from multiple image types (2D, 3D, CAD/CAM). Those images, presented on the Patient Chart, can be viewed one, four, or six images at a time, including a panel that shows the most recent images for six image types.
When patients cancel at the last moment, the routine in the past has been to jump on the phones, or else live with the “empty chair syndrome.” That is no longer the case.
“Fill Appointment has been a big helping in filling holes in our schedule. With the click of a button, we can blast information about available times to 40 customers at once!” says Melanie Parado.
Joanne Cameron adds her praises, “You can reach numerous patients in the same amount of time it would have taken to send out one text to one patient. And the responses have been positive from patients!”
Among the most appreciated new Dentrix features is the Month End and Task Scheduler. “Running Month End Tasks has never been so seamless and EASY!” says Pamela Kinniard, Office Manager at Fred Peck, DDS, Cincinnati, OH. “Before the G6.5 update…I either had to come in before everyone got to work, or stay long after everyone left. No more making sure everyone is out of Dentrix. [I can] set it and forget it. Everything runs once and done! “
Debby Ellerbeck, Front Desk Staff at Intermountain Smiles, Sandy, UT, adds, “The month end task scheduler update…saves me so much time! It can generate as many reports as needed, daily, weekly, or monthly. I LOVE this new feature!”
Starting with G6.5, appointment lists are combined for easy searching and actions on patients across multiple lists. “The combined list feature makes us more efficient. With all appointment information in the one view, it is easier to clean up and manage our lists,” says Melanie Parado.
The depth of information available in the new lists makes this a favorite new feature of Joanne Cameron, “What I like most about the new look of the appointment list is the great sampling of patient information available at a glance. No more having to leave the screen to find the information you need.”
The new G7 recently became available to practices who made an early request at www.dentrix.com/G7. By late June, all Dentrix users on versions G6.0 and later who have a current service plan can expect to see the new G7.0 release in their Dentrix Update Manager.
